GRAND OPENING OF SAFEWAY IN BURLINGAME, CA

Finally, earlier today on Friday, October 14, 2011 at 8 AM it happened - the Grand Opening of Safeway in Burlingame, CA! The project was first proposed in 1997 and it was finally approved in 2010. Click HERE to find out more about the project history. But it was not just about Safeway. It was about planning and development of one of the 3rd most livable City in Northern California (after San Francisco and Palo Alto). The Safeway  store is the first element of a shopping plaza that will extend downtown of Burlingame towards Howard Ave. Below are are a few pictures of the shop and its environment taken a few hours ago.

Of course jury is still out, but judging from the excitement on the Opening Day, Burlingame will gain a shopping plaza that is well designed and well integrated to the down town area. It is easy to get here by car (and easy to park), bus or train (the walk from the Burlingame train station is about 10 min). Make sure that you come here to check Burlingame's newest shopping destination.
